I am a writer, teacher, mother, and local historian living in Berkeley, California. Teaching preschool in the Berkeley Unified School District gave me the opportunity to bond with young children, who especially loved circle time and story time. Writing for children has allowed me to recapture the circle of inspiration that we created together.
While president and board member of the Berkeley Historical Society, I curated exhibits for diverse audiences, conducted oral histories, and did research for articles and permanent displays. I published Tempered by Fire: History of the Berkeley Fire Department and co-authored both Fermenting Berkeley: A Spirited History and Early Berkeley Women. I have written children's picture books and photography books depicting the exquisite hikes in the Bay Area, and I also published some poetry. I directed the documentary, Inside the Free Speech Movement, which premiered on YouTube in 2024.
I have built extensive contacts while organizing and publicizing popular events. I am active on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. I am also a member of SCBWI and the Authors Guild.
